Job DescriptionWSP is currently initiating a search for a Civil Engineer-Water Resources for our New Orleans or Baton Rouge office. The candidate will utilize their professional experience and technical knowledge of civil engineering to support a variety of civil projects that could include stormwater and drainage design, floodplain management and flood control, water/wastewater, site civil and utility design.
Your Impact- Manage projects as assigned, including assisting with project pursuits, development of scope and level of effort, project execution, and project closeout, ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Work with our Louisiana team and support our engineering teams throughout the Southern region to deliver successful projects for our clients.
- Perform and/or provide oversight over technical work including site visits, studies, data collection, analysis and evaluations, hydraulic calculations and modeling; prepare engineering reports and supporting calculations and documents, prepare construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Perform professional civil engineering work, develop design criteria, and assist with research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, infrastructure, and transportation channels to achieve overall project objectives.
- Provide technical expertise on various engineering, design, and construction issues.
- Analyzes topographic survey data and assists in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during field investigations.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic studies and design using hydrologic and hydraulic software.
- Perform drainage system, stormwater management, potable water systems, and wastewater conveyance system design.
- Prepare contract documents, including plans, specifications, cost estimating, and bid packages, and ensures that specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.
- Perform construction administration tasks.
- Attend and participate in project team meetings, collaborate with staff-level engineers, and provide guidance to entry-level engineers.
- Interface with clients and support business development initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with infrastructure authorities on federal, state, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects.
- Remain current in latest civil engineering techniques and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related discipline.
- Professional Engineering License (PE License) in Louisiana required.
- 5+ years of relevant post education experience in civil design and plan production for water resources, transportation and/or infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of and familiarity with local and state design guidelines and standards.
- Be highly proficient in AutoCAD and/or Micro Station, and similar design software programs.
- Proficient in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Hydraflow Stormsewers and similar design software programs.
