Our Transportation group provides comprehensive planning, project management, design, and engineering services for all phases of transportation projects. Your creativity will be applied to a variety of projects including urban and rural roadways, freeways and interchanges, multi‑modal facilities, and alternative intersection designs. There will also be opportunities to be involved in transportation‑related environmental studies and alternative delivery projects.
You will work in an office that provides a diverse cross‑section of services where collaboration and education are fostered. This position comes with a high potential for growth into a leadership role in Stantec’s Transportation group in Louisiana.
- Perform as Project Manager or Senior Project Manager and technical specialist on roadway engineering projects, responsible for invoicing, managing, and monitoring financial performance of project budgets.
- Produce detailed, high‑quality design plans, specifications, and estimates in accordance with applicable procedures and standards.
- Peer review plans and provide quality control reviews of technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
- Mentor junior staff in technical design elements and the development of project documents. Prepare reports and develop planning documents.
- Identify and analyze the principal design features and major design alternatives that satisfy the project’s purpose and the client’s needs.
- Communicate with clients and stakeholders to understand client’s needs.
- Participate in identifying project pursuit opportunities, manage client relationships, develop new clients, and assist in the preparation of proposals to win those pursuits.
- Proficient in design of transportation/civil engineering projects including preparation of plans and specifications, and cost estimates for all aspects of roadway construction.
- Ability to lead one or more design teams through all phases of project production.
- Ability to perform and/or oversee the preparation of roadway design plans including geometric layout, drainage design, and earthwork computations.
- Ability to work with other transportation‑related disciplines to incorporate bridges and/or other structural elements, traffic signals and/or other traffic control elements, Intelligent Transportation Systems and roadway lighting into a comprehensive plan set.
- Proficient in planning and report preparation.
- Proficient in traffic control plan production and sequence of construction for roadway projects including Transportation Management Plans, temporary signing, striping and barricades, and detour plans.
- Sufficient experience to fulfill construction support services such as plan changes, responses to Requests for Information, and shop drawing reviews.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with team members virtually.
- Recent experience planning and developing Roadway projects in Microstation, Geopak and Open Roads is desired.
- Thorough knowledge and interpretation of transportation industry standards and guidance i.e. AASHTO, MUTCD, FHWA.
- Experience with Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) Roadway Design Guidelines and Project Delivery Network is desired.
- Willing to work in other States and apply other State’s standards. Experience in other states is a positive.
- Bachelor’s or higher Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer registered in the State of Louisiana or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months.
- 10 years of progressive engineering and project management Transportation experience.
