Project Engineer – Substation Design

Summary:
Mentor a small team of engineers and CAD designers in General/Physical Layout as well as Protection & Control packages of substation design projects. The candidate will be the sealing engineer for the majority of work produced by the team and will also act as the customer’s point of contact to manage existing projects and business development with select clients. This position reports to the Divisional Manager.
Locations:
Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Charlotte, Katy, Raleigh, and Summerville.
- Mentor and schedule work of junior engineers, designers, CAD operators on the candidate’s assigned team.
- Serve as the customer’s point of contact to manage existing projects and customer satisfaction, and to develop future business and upcoming project plans.
- Proficient in multiple areas of substation engineering such as physical layout design, protection/control design, relay settings programming, field support, substation commissioning, and relay testing.
- Perform and direct project design, including engineering calculations; use computer design software and reference appropriate engineering procedures and design manuals.
- Prepare complex project documents including specifications and bid documents.
- Conduct complex drawing reviews, checking and marking up full plan sets to ensure the plans are clear, concise, and a thorough representation of the design intent.
- Supervise work and assist in training of Division Project Engineers I and II.
- Perform basic functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Interface well with employees at all levels.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering required. Five to ten years of applicable experience required. Licensed Professional Engineer.
