The Mission of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement (LCLE) is to improve the operations of the criminal justice and juvenile justice system and promote public safety by providing progressive leadership and coordination within the criminal justice community.
We are looking for a highly technical and analytical professional with extensive knowledge of the criminal justice system. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to manage complex federal grants and coordinate with high-level partners, such as the Supreme Court and District Attorneys, to ensure the integrity of statewide criminal history data. - Three years of experience in criminal justice, policy planning or analysis, law enforcement, legal research, contracts or grants management, statistical analysis, or program auditing; OR
- Six years of full‑time work experience in any field; OR
- A bachelor's degree.
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Job Duties- Leads the development and implementation of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) and National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP) in coordination with the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS).
- Oversees the identification and reporting of individuals ineligible to purchase firearms or hold sensitive positions, ensuring timely data transmission to the FBI’s Denied Person File.
- Provides technical assistance and training to agencies on the accurate entry of criminal history records, including arrests, protection orders, and domestic violence convictions.
- Monitors and verifies the integration of records across law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, and corrections to ensure a linked and comprehensive statewide criminal justice database.
- Administers the Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Grants to enhance the quality of medical examiner services and eliminate backlogs in forensic evidence analysis (e.g., toxicology, firearms, and latent prints).
