Mayo Behavioral Health is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our dynamic team. We are a leading healthcare facility that provides innovative and compassionate mental health services to individuals of all ages. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing and coding procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Review and assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes to all services provided
• Ensure accurate and timely submission of insurance claims to payers
• Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, denials, and appeals
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve coding and billing discrepancies
• Process and post payments from insurance companies and patients
• Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness
• Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Stay current with changes in coding and billing regulations and guidelines

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification in medical billing and coding from an accredited program
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a behavioral health setting
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and third-party payer regulations
• Proficient in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding systems
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems is a plus
