What We're Looking For
  • Compassionate, proactive communicator with strong crisis intervention skills
  • Minimum 2 years of mental health/chemical dependency experience preferred
  • Master's Degree in social work, counseling, or related field required
  • Current Louisiana licensure as LCSW, LMSW, CSW, or LPC required
  • Familiarity with DSM IV diagnostic criteria preferred
  • Strong documentation, referral coordination, and patient advocacy skills

What You Will Do
  • Provide patients with timely assessments, crisis intervention, and coordinated referrals to behavioral health or social services.
  • Serve as a liaison for patients, their families, and community agencies seeking access to appropriate psychiatric and medical care.
  • Respond to inquiry calls and document intake accurately.
  • Schedule and conduct in-person assessments in the Emergency Department and medical units.
  • Provide crisis intervention, discharge planning, and psychiatric referrals.
  • Consult with on-call psychiatrists and coordinate insurance pre-certifications.
  • Refer non-admission candidates to appropriate community resources.
  • Submit accurate daily activity and special data reports.
  • Mentor and orient new staff; serve as a resource for complex admissions.
  • Monitor and improve admission process effectiveness and propose enhancements.
  • Assist with medical social service needs in the ED, including social service consults, abuse evaluations, and trauma support.
  • Represent BRG at community collaborative initiatives.
Requirements
  • Must have one of the following licenses: LMSW OR LCSW, PLPC OR LPC.
