Data Engineer - Entry Level (Baton Rouge, LA) Introduction
In this role, you will join IBM Consulting via our world‑class Associates Program for university hires. As an Associate Consultant, you will work with a diverse range of clients worldwide, delivering solutions that accelerate impact and enable meaningful change. Your role and responsibilities- Harvest data to uncover patterns and insights, contributing to data gathering, storage, and both batch and real‑time processing.
- Collaborate closely with teams to select appropriate data management systems and identify data needed for analysis.
- Tackle integration challenges and untangle complex, unstructured data sets.
- Implement and validate predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Design and implement enterprise search applications such as Elasticsearch and Splunk for client requirements.
- Work in an Agile, collaborative environment alongside scientists, engineers, consultants, and database administrators.
- Build reusable data cleansing and integration pipelines, develop predictive or prescriptive models, and evaluate modeling results.
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise- Incorporate a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Proficiency in Java, Python, Scala, and related languages to build data pipelines.
- Experience with ETL tools and data integration or federation tools.
- Knowledge of Linux, SQL, Spark, Hadoop, and Java.
- Must be local to or willing to relocate to the Baton Rouge Client Innovation Center.
- Average onsite work requirement of 3 days per week.
- Willingness to travel up to 100% as needed for project assignments.
- Experience with predictive or prescriptive modeling skills.
- Teamwork with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to communicate business needs and provide analytical solutions to internal and external clients.
- Skill in asking industry questions to identify appropriate modeling techniques.
- Capability to present results to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
