Nurse Manager, Medsurg​/Stepdown - St Charles Parish Hospital

• Unit-level responsibility for practice, quality of care, and service delivered.
• Lead and support staff development and performance.
• Manage personnel, supplies, and equipment cost-effectively.

Education – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s Degree Science of Nursing (BSN) required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities.

Work Experience – 3 years of RN experience including 1 year as a charge nurse, supervisor, or leader.

Certifications – Current RN license in state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.

• Exceptional leadership skills.
• Good organizational and time management skills and ability to be self-directed.

• Ensures quality of care and patient satisfaction through unit-specific systems and improvements.
• Ensures operational profitability with preliminary budgets, performance data, system reporting, and inventory management.
• Provides care to patients, effectively using the nursing process.
• Communicates pertinent information to patients, families, and staff.
• Participates in activities for professional development and maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials.
• Manages, develops, retains, and inspires an engaged workforce.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The incumbent works in a patient care area with exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications is present.
