Job Description
The LPN Clinic is responsible for providing patient care following established standards and practices. Assists physician, nurse, and staff with the daily coordination of patient care and patient access. Coordinates patient flow, schedules appointments, procedures, tests and referrals. May serve as a preceptor for clinical staff. Relies on guidelines to accomplish tasks. Relies on some experience and judgment to complete job.
Works under general supervision. May lead and direct the work of others within scope of practice.
- Patient Care:
Observe, record and report patient condition and reaction to drugs/treatments; instruct patient/family on diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and health/wellness issues. - Perform selected nursing duties, including documenting patient history, vital signs, immunizations and allergies; prepare, stock and clean exam room and maintain supplies and equipment for treatment.
- Coordination of Care:
Provide complex and basic nursing care measures to all age groups; assist physician with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks; responsible for appointment and referral scheduling, chart management, providing information and instructions to patients, and coordinating patient flow; prepare exam room and assist physician during examination, treatment and testing of patient. - Quality:
Administer prescribed medications/treatments in accordance with nursing standards; may perform phlebotomy and EKGs and assist with flex sigmoidoscopies; observe and adhere to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards; utilize all equipment, supplies, facilities and resources efficiently; participate in continuous quality improvement programs to foster provision of quality health care services; provide compassionate, understanding and respectful care. - Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
- Graduate of an accredited LPN school.
- Proficient in English, verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills.
- Current Louisiana State license as LPN and BLS certification.
