Nurse Practitioner - Otolaryngology-OLOL Head and Neck

To provide nursing medical care for high acuity patients in collaboration with a physician.

• Patient Care
  • Provides direct patient care management to high acuity patients including performing histories and physicals, admits, and discharges; related to the care of specialty patients focusing on the maintenance, achievement, and restoration of optimal functions.
  • The NP will also visit patients prior to surgery, conduct discharge teaching afterward, and prescribe medications, including narcotics.
• Partnership and Collaboration
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing medical care consistent with medical treatment and care in collaboration with a physician. The practitioner initiates or modifies medical treatment within an established plan of medical protocol.
  • The NP assists with consults, writes orders, coordinates with consulting physicians, accompanies physicians on rounds, analyzes clinical data; orders and/or performs necessary diagnostic tests or procedures; develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic regimens.
• Quality
  • The NP teaches and provides support for patients and families; minimizes fragmentation by coordinating care; manages transition of the patient to step‑down units or out‑patient settings; serves as patient advocate.
• Other Duties As Assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Criteria for Hospital Setting Nurse Practitioner: patients are higher acuity in a specialized area; role involves on‑call duties, hospital rounds, and assisting MDs with procedures (in clinic and/or hospital).

• Education
  :
  Master’s degree in Nursing
• Licensure
  : ACLS; RN; BLS certification; current/unrestricted RN license;
  Advanced Practice License; ANCC credential.
