At S&W Wholesale Foods, we are building the future of independent food service distribution across the Southeast Louisiana region. We are looking for a high-performing Sales Representative to own, scale, and deeply penetrate our open territory. We are currently hiring for the New Orleans, Slidell, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette areas!
This is not a passive order-taking role. As a frontline strategist, you will build directly on our 45-year legacy of being "Large enough to serve, small enough to care." You will act as a trusted advisor to restaurant owners, chefs, and food service operators—helping them navigate supply chain complexities, design menus, and scale their businesses using our premium broadline catalog. If you are an ambitious, self-directed sales professional with deep roots in the culinary or food service space and the ability to connect fluently with diverse operators, this is your opportunity to capture market share and align your personal financial growth directly with our expansion.
WhatYou’ll Do (The Mission)
- Territory Ownership:
Build and execute a hyper-local growth strategy to secure new accounts through strategic cold-calling, field prospecting, and competitive conversions. - Account Deepening:
Analyze current customer product mixes to maximize wallet-share across our fully-loaded categories—including fresh produce, artisan cheeses, and premium private labels. - Consultative Advisory:
Partner closely with operators to research their unique business needs, offering real-time market data on price fluctuations, product innovations, and impending shortages to make them highly competitive. - Financial Stewardship:
Direct the complete commercial lifecycle of your territory, from bidding and price adjustments to credit terms and proactive accounts receivable collection. - Agile Problem Solving:
Act as the ultimate buffer between the field and operations—troubleshooting logistics challenges, executing rapid product deviations (out-of-stocks), and resolving customer disputes with absolute autonomy. - High Mobility:
Operate dynamically across a high-travel territory (up to 80% field time), cultivating face-to-face relationships where decisions are made.
- Food service Domain Expertise: 2–3 years of verifiable success in Food Service Sales, a deep understanding of commercial kitchen dynamics, or a strong culinary/supply chain background.
- Raw Execution Power:
Exceptional self-motivation, thick skin for cold-calling, and a proven ability to operate entirely without direct daily supervision. - Commercial Fluency:
Strong communication skills with an innate ability to lead complex bid negotiations, create premium presentations, and retain high-value accounts. - Technical Agility:
Complete comfort working in mobile-first and cloud environments (tablets, CRM systems, Excel, and automated order-entry workflows). - Schedule Adaptability:
The flexibility to work non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, or emergency holiday shifts) to ensure your operators never miss a delivery window. - Field Compliance: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record (zero DUIs within 3 years; no multiple DUIs within 7 years) and verifiable auto insurance.
- Physical Capability:
Ability to drive extensively, walk/stand for long stretches in various environments, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
We offer an attractive combination of base salary and performance-driven commission as well as auto/travel allowances designed to reward high achievers. At S&W Foods, we believe that taking care of our team is just as important as taking care of our customers.
