At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities.

Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, Maintenance Repairer Master in Facilities. This is a classified position, and rules of the position are governed by State Civil Service. An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:

One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance;
OR Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.

Job DutiesServes as lead worker over assigned maintenance personnel; directs work assignments, coordinates workflow, and inspects completed work. Surveys maintenance jobs and ensures appropriate tools, materials, equipment, and resources are available. Provides guidance, training, and technical assistance to subordinate maintenance personnel. Performs advanced installation, replacement, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Repairs and maintains pumps, compressors, motors, air handlers, cooling towers, controls, and related mechanical equipment.
Performs advanced welding and metal fabrication, including specialized welding of aluminum, stainless steel, and other non-ferrous metals. Operates machining and fabrication equipment to manufacture or repair parts for maintenance and mechanical equipment.
