Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr

Basic salary is competitive, with an annual performance bonus and regular salary increases. Recruitment Incentive (Sign‑on Bonus) approved for highly competitive applicants. Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment) approved. Two‑page resume requirement does not apply to this occupational series.

• United States Citizenship:
  Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
• The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Residency Training:
  Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Approved residencies are: (1) ACGME accredited programs; (2) AOA accredited programs; or (3) Other residencies (non‑US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States) deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
• Residents currently enrolled in accredited residency training programs who would otherwise meet the basic requirements are eligible to be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs).
• PRPs must be fully licensed physicians and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee‑basis.
• PRPs are not considered independent practitioners, will not be privileged, and must have a scope of practice that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Eligible applicants must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Full‑time, in‑person (this is NOT a remote position).
• Eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP); must meet specific eligibility requirements and submit application within four months of appointment.
• Provides a full range of psycho‑diagnostic services: assessment, psychotherapeutic techniques, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessment, crisis intervention, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders (including depression, anxiety, psychosis, PTSD, substance abuse, etc.) across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, primary care, mental health integrated, and hospital ward settings.
• Serves as a mental health team leader, coordinating consults and triage of specialty clinic referrals.
• Participates in team meetings, treatment‑planning conferences, and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members.
• Orders diagnostic tests and consultations and interprets findings to make appropriate treatment decisions.
• Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, CARF, VA policies, clinical practice guidelines, VISN standards, national statutes, HIPAA, and mandatory continuing education.
• Participates in supervision, teaching, performance‑improvement initiatives, and may supervise psychiatry residents and other trainees.
• Provides leadership guidance, consultation to staff, and is responsible for timely completion of clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system.
• Plans and oversees personal research programs relevant to program planning and treatment approaches.
