Aircraft Avionics Technician at WACO Aircraft Corp.

Our planes are carefully and skillfully built by hand. Centennial Aircraft Service is a Part 145 Repair Station and does everything from restoring vintage aircraft to providing new avionics and engines to current aircraft. Junkers Aircraft is our newest company that encompasses our lightest and sleekest model LSA airplane made from corrugated aluminum, known as the A50, complete with a ballistic parachute.
We are seeking a skilled and meticulous Avionics Technician to join our production team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft electrical and avionics systems, with a focus on general aviation aircraft.
What You Will DoAs an Avionics Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, and repairs or overhauls moderately complex aircraft instruments and avionics components to manufacturer’s specifications, customer expectations, and approved standard work instructions in a clean and safe work environment, with assistance as needed. In addition, this position accurately prepares and completes appropriate documentation for compliance as needed with the FAA. Responsibilities will vary from day to day, and position reports directly to the Production Manager.
Onsite position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Avionics installations on new production aircraft.
- Avionics modifications and upgrades on customer aircraft.
- Interpret and work from complex electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams. Fabricate, route, terminate, and test aircraft wiring harnesses and associated components.
- Assist with and perform all manner of maintenance on certificated aircraft in accordance with company policy, manufacturer's recommendation, and Federal Aviation Regulations as required.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair airframe and power plant components and systems related to flight and engine instrumentation.
- Document work completed per company procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations, including installation logs, wiring modifications, test results, and repairs, ensuring compliance with our quality assurance program and airworthiness directives.
- Prepares complete and timely documentation, including updating work order status, as required by standard work procedures, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals and FAA regulations.
- Work closely with the Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve technical issues and optimize installation processes.
- Maintains and cleans test equipment and work area as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in aviation electronics, aviation technology, or a related field is a plus.
- 2+ years proven experience as an Avionics Technician, preferably in manufacturing, completion, or MRO environment focused on general aviation or light aircraft preferred.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Expertise in soldering, crimping, and terminating electrical wiring to high reliability standards.
- Familiarity with modern avionics systems from major manufacturers (e.g. Garmin, Aspen, Dynon).
- Skilled in using avionics test equipment (e.g., IFR/Nav/Comm ramp testers).
- Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and a commitment to quality and safety.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
