Summary

The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Registered Nurse to function in the Community Living Center within the Extended Care Service.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Proficiency in English (both written and spoken), in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f).

Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing by ACEN or CCNE, or equivalent foreign education with validation.

Possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.

For candidates without licensure, eligibility for appointment as a Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) on a temporary basis while pursuing licensure.

Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting, carrying, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, use of arms/hands/fingers, overhead work, walking, standing, sitting, vision and hearing capabilities, and emotional stability.

Duties

Provide comprehensive nursing care for residents with complex medical and psychiatric conditions, including those with cognitive impairments and terminal illnesses.
Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of care.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and function independently as a charge nurse, delegating and organizing care activities.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continually update clinical skills.
