Senior Level Diesel Technician – Ryder – Battle Creek, MI
Permanent Full‑time position. Drive and maintain Ryder’s truck fleet.
Compensation:
- Hourly Pay: $33.50 per hour
- Sign‑On Bonus: $2,000 at 30 days & $2,000 at 90 days
- Certification Bonus: $100 per new ASE certification (up to $700)
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter
- Schedule:
Second Shift 9:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m., Monday–Friday (Weekends OFF)

Qualifications:
- High‑school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational/technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred) Basic tools required
- Three or more years of experience repairing gasoline or diesel engines (preferred)
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- Ability to obtain a CDL within six months of hire skiing>
- Minimum two years of experience with heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment repairs/diagnostics
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and preventive vehicle maintenance and repairs
- Diagnosemon complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers as needed
- Complete detailed inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks; perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with drivers/customers to determine the nature of complaints
- Utilize shop management systems and electronic documentation
- Follow all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Mentor Junior Technicians (Tech 1 & Tech 2)
- Access and use internal/external maintenance documents
- Support functions such as Service Island support; obtain SBTIII certification within 180 days
- Complete required OEM diagnostic scan‑tool courses
