Essential

Job Functions
  • Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
  • Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
  • Provide customers with fresh products and correct portion size to prevent shrink.
  • Recommend deli or bakery items to customers.
  • Use all equipment in bakery (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
  • Prepare foods according to temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
  • Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe.
  • Prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness; review “sell by” dates.
  • Use kitchen equipment properly (stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.).
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Know the store layout to locate products when requested.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department, respond to questions, and make suggestions.
  • Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
  • Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers; keep temperature logs.
  • Promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Create an environment that welcomes customers and answers their questions.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, notify management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance, inspect equipment, report repairs.
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  • Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
  • Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to obtain a current food handler’s permit upon employment.
