Camp JIM (Jesus Is Mine), in Pillager, MN, is a Youth and Family Camp dedicated to teaching and modeling the gospel of Jesus Christ in fun ways, and encouraging people to grow in faith and service. Founded in 1932, we pride ourselves on building strong relationships with individuals and our community, to evangelize and disciple those we serve.

We are seeking a Maintenance Director to support the ministry through ensuring our 32-acre, 250-bed, Non-Profit Camp stays “guest ready” at all times. The primary focus of this role is to make sure buildings, grounds, and equipment are operating safely, efficiently, and in good working order.

Ministry Position Purpose

The Maintenance Director will lead the maintenance department and oversee projects, and at times recruit and hire volunteers and subcontractors to be successful in continually trying to improve our facilities. You will also help minister to both staff and volunteers while performing your duties.

Qualifications
  • You have a passion for the camping ministry and people, and have a sincere desire to see the camping ministry used for God’s glory.
  • Leadership skills – Ability to plan, coordinate, delegate, train, and supervise others, while leading from the trenches.
  • Able to lead others in love and grace, and have a servant’s heart in relation to ministry operations.
  • Maintenance skills – Ability to complete general maintenance of facilities and equipment.
  • Construction
    - Ability to build new buildings with help, and remodel existing ones.
  • Automotive/mechanical skills to be able to keep most equipment in safe operating condition and diagnose and complete minor repairs.
  • Grounds keeping skills – Ability to manage, maintain, and groom grounds.
  • Able to lift at least 70 pounds, and spend the majority of your day on your feet working both inside and out in varying weather conditions.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESGrounds, Buildings, and Equipment
  • Keep the grounds, buildings, and equipment “guest ready”.
  • Prioritize projects and repairs, and work with management to establish goals to keep up with changing needs.
  • Manage upkeep, and supply inventories to keep key infrastructures from experiencing downtime.
Maintenance Volunteers and Service Professionals
  • Assign, explain, and supervise maintenance projects for volunteers, focusing on safety.
  • Help recruit, schedule, coordinate, and promote work days, projects, and volunteers.
  • Maintain a file/record of service professionals camp uses.
  • Secure the services of volunteers and professionals when necessary.
Record Keeping
  • Maintain a basic daily work log listing hours, projects worked on, and vacation time taken.
  • Maintain a maintenance schedule for each unit requiring routine maintenance.
  • Maintain a maintenance record for buildings.
  • Maintain and prioritize a log of items that break.
  • Verify accuracy of maintenance-related invoices.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Give input into facility-related areas and do necessary research into areas as needed for development.
  • Maintain a written site layout plan containing general information on all utilities and facility layout.
  • Work with other staff and volunteers in hosting guest groups and/or provide meals for them.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive Salary in the $27,000 - $34,000/yr range (DOE) with on-site housing provided (preferred).
  • Additional ability to also raise some personal support income.
  • IRA Retirement Option with 3% matching.
  • PTO - 12 Days of PTO starting the first year.
