Staff Accountant And Payroll

Blumark Tax Advisors, LLC provides tax, accounting, payroll, and advisory services to small businesses and individuals. We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant who enjoys building client relationships and owning accounting processes from start to finish. Our team helps clients maintain reliable financial information, meet compliance obligations, and make informed business decisions through responsive service and practical guidance.

This position is based in our Bay City, MI office. After successful training and onboarding, the regular hybrid schedule consists of three days in the office and two days working remotely with the possibility of a fully remote option after proving competency and efficiency (occasional in-office days required).

• Manage full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping for approximately 10 to 15 small-business clients.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, loan, payroll, and balance-sheet accounts and complete month-end and year-end closes.
• Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, fixed-asset records, and year-end work papers.
• Process payroll for multiple clients and maintain accurate payroll records and employee data.
• Prepare selected payroll tax returns, review automated filings, and support quarterly and annual reporting.
• Resolve payroll tax notices and help ensure federal, state, and local compliance.
• Assist with sales tax and other recurring compliance filings.
• Communicate directly with business owners about results, documentation needs, deadlines, and process improvements.

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Three to five years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Full-cycle accounting and hands-on payroll processing experience.
• Proficiency with Quick Books Online, Quick Books Desktop, and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals and a commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple clients, recurring deadlines, and changing priorities.
• Professional, responsive communication and a client-service mindset.
• Preferred:
  Experience in a CPA firm, tax practice, or client accounting services environment;
  Accounting CS experience; and familiarity with multi-state payroll, sales tax, or payroll tax notices.
