Operations Tech II/III - Offshore (I&E Focused)

Join Williams as an Offshore Operations Technician focused on Instrumentation & Electrical. This role ensures our offshore assets operate safely, consistently, and in compliance with environmental regulations. You will troubleshoot instrumentation equipment, support preventive and break‑fix maintenance, calibrate end devices, and participate in routine offshore projects such as painting, expansions, and turnaround work.

Responsibilities
  • Safely maintain offshore platforms, facilities, and associated equipment while meeting operational and technical standards.
  • Operate and maintain offshore mechanical and electrical equipment, including valves, actuators, and instrumentation.
  • Perform DOT compliance tasks and adhere to regulations 192 and 195.
  • Verify and calibrate gas and liquid hydrocarbon devices.
  • Analyze data and collaborate with team members to resolve technical and operational issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of sites, equipment, permits, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct general maintenance and inspections of valves and related operators.
  • Communicate effectively with facility staff regarding facility maintenance, production, and operations.
  • Fly offshore multiple times a week to complete PPM and maintenance work orders.
  • Collaborate with the Offshore Maintenance Coordinator to plan and order materials for future work orders.
  • Execute effective troubleshooting of I&E and mechanical problems using available resources.
Education & Experience
  • Operations Technician (Offshore I&E) III:
    • Required:

      High School Diploma/GED.
    • Preferred:
      Associate’s or 2‑year technical degree and a minimum of 3 years progressive experience in the oil and gas industry, pipeline, chemical industry, or offshore operations.
  • Operations Technician (Offshore I&E) II:
    • Required:

      High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years progressive experience in oil and gas, pipeline, or offshore operations.
    • Preferred:
      Associate’s or 2‑year technical degree.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Travel by boat or helicopter to offshore platforms; must obtain HUET “Helicopter Underwater Egress Training” and US Coast Guard approved Water Survival course within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Work in extreme temperatures, loud noise, and enclosed spaces.
  • Lift or carry items up to 50 lbs. and team‑lift loads of more than 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for prolonged periods.
  • Work at elevated levels using man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers with appropriate PPE.
  • Use hand tools as required.
Shift, Work Hours & Travel Requirements
  • Work 4 days, 10‑hour shifts.
  • Available to back‑fill offshore shifts on a 14 on/14 off schedule as required.
  • Available for after‑hours, on‑call rotations, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Other Requirements
  • Must live within a 1‑hour response time of the Bay City office.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of offshore pipeline equipment; measuring or gathering of natural gas and oil pipeline products.
  • Preferred:
    Journeyman or electrical license.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with routine inspections, maintenance, and calibration of equipment for quality and quantity determination.
  • Preferred:
    Experience supporting launch/receipt of oil/gas pigs, chemical injection operations, and pipeline operations.
  • Preferred:
    Independent evaluation and decision‑making skills with minimum supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management programs.
  • Must obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
