OverviewThis role acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. The RN will effectively delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members, assume accountability for quality patient outcomes, and demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions.
Key Responsibilities- Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
- Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other groups.
- Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
- Utilizes data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improves the profession of nursing.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, communication style, and adapting explanations of procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Work Experience: Preferred – Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Required – None.
- Certifications:
- Current RN license in state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of hire.
- Preferred – Certification in Clinical Specialty Area.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Good organizational and time management skills and ability to be self-directed.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment.
- Good interpersonal skills.
The role requires the ability to lift, move or shift 10 to 100 pounds of force, often in a fast-paced environment, and may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and hazardous waste.
