Cook II - Banquets - Full Time at Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast
About the position
We’re seeking a Cook II to support banquet service in a fast‑paced culinary environment. The role involves preparing a variety of menu items, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring exceptional guest service during meal periods.
Responsibilities
- Provide fast, friendly, professional and responsive customer service to culinary team members and guests; greet and welcome each guest approaching the station.
- Prepare food items per guest order (breakfast, entrees, desserts) using proper cooking methods, cooking to specifications, and handling, storing and rotating food in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Prepare sauces, soups, and hot entrées as required; garnish all food orders in accordance with menu specifications.
- Produce buffet and plated style items, employing proper plate presentation techniques.
- Manage production of orders for grilling, roasting, baking fish, steaks, chicken, and shellfish.
- Coordinate completion of menu items with servers and set up stations based on anticipated volumes.
- Slice, dice, chop, and prepare raw products; carve meats, portion food on serving plates, add gravies and sauces, garnish plates as required.
- Adhere to company standards for safe food handling and storage; maintain cleanliness and stock coolers and storage areas.
- Operate and maintain all equipment and utensils safely and efficiently.
- Provide personalized service and use guests’ names when possible.
- Assist in training new Banquet Cooks.
- Stand for a full shift and perform any other duties assigned by a supervisor or management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of experience in a full‑service restaurant (preferred) or equivalent combination.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and knowledge of weights, measures, and recipe yield.
- Ability to follow written or oral instructions and handle problems in standardized situations.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Apprentice certification preferred.
- Knowledge and ability to use all kitchen tools and equipment; identify products, recognize spoiled or questionable items, and execute recipes.
- Capacity to stand, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, tolerate high temperatures, and handle industry chemicals; ability to adjust focus and maintain close vision.
- Risk of electrical shock and moderate noise levels in the work environment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
