The Children's Services of ACLD provides a continuum of services to children from ages three to twenty‑one in their pre‑school and after‑school programs. We currently have an opportunity for a Teacher Assistant to join our Bay Shore Facility.

• Assist classroom staff with all classroom related duties.
• Serve as an active facilitator of children's educational and behavioral goals by role‑modeling and interacting with students as part of a trans‑disciplinary team.
• Provide educational intervention under the direction of the special education teacher to help each child reach their highest level of independence.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year experience working with children in a classroom or childcare environment; experience with children with special needs preferred.
• Must have the ability to work with and supervise children in a variety of educational settings including self‑contained, integrated, off‑site, and childcare.
• Must be at least 18 years of age to supervise children independently.
• Must be physically able to handle all aspects of supervision of day‑to‑day activities of preschoolers (running, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs).
• Bilingual preferred.
• ABA experience preferred.
• All Teacher Assistants in New York State must be certified.

• Pre‑school classroom, daycare, classroom set‑up.
• Ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.

35 hours per week, 8:00 am – 3:30 pm.
