About the OpportunityAir Industries Machining Corp. is a growing aerospace manufacturer seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our team in Bay Shore, NY.
This is a hands‑on programming role for someone who enjoys solving challenging machining problems and takes pride in developing robust, efficient manufacturing processes. Our CNC Programmers work with complex, tight‑tolerance components using advanced 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining
, including horizontal machining centers.
The CNC Programmer will own the development of complete, production‑ready CNC programs while collaborating closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Quality, and machinists on machining methods, tooling, work holding, prove‑out, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging components and established aerospace programs while contributing to a growing company that is investing in its people, equipment, processes, and manufacturing capabilities.
What You'll Do- Develop complete CNC programs for complex, tight‑tolerance components using 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining centers
, including horizontal machining centers. - Take ownership of CNC programs from initial development through machine prove‑out and stable production.
- Develop machining strategies and operation sequencing in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations.
- Select cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and other machining parameters appropriate for the application.
- Collaborate on setup strategies, tooling requirements, fixtures, and work holding solutions.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing fixtures and work holding.
- Create and maintain accurate 3D models, toolpaths, and manufacturing information required to support machining operations.
- Verify CNC programs and toolpaths for accuracy, manufacturability, machine clearance, and collision avoidance.
- Support CNC setup and first‑piece prove‑out on the manufacturing floor.
- Make program and process adjustments based on results observed during prove‑out.
- Work with Quality and Manufacturing personnel to resolve first‑piece inspection and production issues.
- Troubleshoot CNC programs, tooling, setups, work holding, and machining issues.
- Modify and optimize programs based on inspection results, tooling performance, machining conditions, and operator feedback.
- Improve existing programs and processes to enhance quality, reliability, tool life, productivity, and cycle time
. - Program complex components including forgings, castings, structural components, thin‑wall parts, and other challenging geometries
. - Develop machining processes for materials including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, nickel‑based alloys, and other difficult‑to‑machine materials
. - Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
- Maintain accurate programming and manufacturing documentation.
