Position
Purpose:
In the role of Deputy Site Leader, the successful candidate will assist the Site Leader in managing daily operations, ensuring that all activities align with organizational goals and operational standards. The Deputy Site Leader will support the Site Leader in addressing operational challenges, providing hands‑on assistance, fostering clear communication, promoting teamwork, maintaining safety, quality and efficiency, and stepping into leadership when the Site Leader is absent.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Team Collaboration
- Ensure smooth communication across team members to align with site goals.
- Help identify performance gaps and offer coaching.
- Support client communications and take on client‑facing roles when needed.
- People Management
- Promote a positive work culture and manage resources.
- Communicate business initiatives and goals.
- Mentor and evaluate the team, supervising less than 10 FTEs.
- Safety Management
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and best practices.
- Conduct regular safety training and awareness programs.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and drive improvement.
- Compliance Oversight
- Oversee contract execution and ensure adherence to environmental, health, safety and operational procedures.
- Operational Reliability
- Monitor project delivery performance and maintain high quality standards.
- Coordinate problem resolution and manage conflicting priorities.
- Customer Relations
- Build and maintain strong, trust‑based relationships with customers and stakeholders.
- Respond promptly to inquiries, concerns and complaints.
- Cost Effectiveness
- Identify and implement operational efficiencies and cost‑saving initiatives.
- Monitor and report on site‑level finances to ensure cost‑effectiveness.
- Facility Management
- Independently manage facilities less than 1 MGD or support the Site Leader for 1–5 MGD facilities.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- High School Diploma / GED required.
- A degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- 3 years of leadership experience, 2 of which in a supervisory or lead role.
- Operational Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes (e.g., coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, primary, secondary, tertiary).
- Systems Expertise
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and control systems used in treatment plants.
- Computer Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Data entry, SCADA and CMMS systems.
- Additional Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with water quality testing and analysis.
- Regulatory compliance understanding.
- Basic troubleshooting and reading technical drawings.
- Must be able to obtain required certifications as needed.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste or smell.
- May regularly lift 10–25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Pay Range: $97,000 to $107,000 per year.
