SummaryReporting to a Maintenance Supervisor, the position involves calibration, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of machinery, instruments, process control systems, and equipment. You will test and repair instrumentation systems used by production equipment to ensure adherence to performance levels and product quality. The role may require an apprenticeship or formal training in the specialty area.
Key duties include laying out and wiring control panels with components such as motor starters, PLCs, control relays, and terminals; labeling all wiring; testing consoles for proper wiring; calibrating sensors; and assembling consoles onto main systems while wiring to external devices per code. The job relies on instructions and established guidelines and is performed under immediate supervision.
Important Personal Skills- High proficiency in Microsoft applications and good working knowledge of SAP.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
- Physical capability to lift 55 lbs, climb ladders, bend, stoop, and walk, and respond to visual and audible alarms.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts on a non‑routine basis.
- Must wear personal protective equipment.
- Qualified to work on electrical systems up to 480
Vac. - Prioritize safety: LOTO, JSA, Hot Work Permits.
- Adhere to safe working practices, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and perform routine preventative maintenance systems.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns on‑site.
- Maintain, fault‑find, and calibrate instrumentation and control equipment.
- Assist with mechanical and electrical plant improvements.
- Maintain and repair packaging control systems.
- Perform general facility maintenance and spare‑parts management.
- Ensure documentation and work records are completed to a high standard.
- Use prior SAP experience (if available).
- Troubleshoot motors, controls, mechanical/electrical blueprints, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and preventive maintenance.
- Communicate effectively in English (speak, read, write) and interpret wiring colors.
- NCCER certified is required.
- High School Diploma.
- 3+ years of I&E experience, preferably in packaging industry.
- Experience with electrical distribution and control systems up to 480 VAC, 3‑phase, PLC-based control systems.
- Experience with pneumatic valves, actuators, sensors, electric motors, and related automation components.
- Experience with AC/DC electrical, blueprint reading, PLC programming (Siemens), conveyor layout, gearbox, hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Detail oriented, code compliant, and able to meet production schedules.
- Ability to read ladder diagrams.
