Welder Helper – Mt. Belvieu, TX

What You Will Do
  • Assist the welder by ensuring all required materials—rods, grinding discs, etc.—are on hand.
  • Set up and move the rig between work areas.
  • Adjust the welding machine temperature as directed.
  • Clean welds with a buffer or grinder.
  • Become familiar with different metal types.
  • Clean the work area and restock supplies as needed.
  • Operate tools and equipment, including beveling machines, cut‑off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw‑Zall.
  • Work safely and accurately.

  • Participate in onsite safety meetings.
  • Follow OPD and client safety policies and procedures.
  • Be aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite.
  • Arrive on time, ready for work.

  • Maintain high attention to detail to avoid reworks and errors.
Physical Demands
  • Work outdoors in extreme heat, humidity, cold, and high elevations.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 60 lb.
  • Stand for extended periods, up to 12 hours per day.
  • Move the entire body, using arms, legs, climbing, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending regularly.
  • Operate on elevated platforms and maintain balance on narrow surfaces while wearing a full‑body harness and lanyard.
  • Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and tools.
Qualifications
  • Know how to clean welds with a buffer or grinder.
  • Have at least 6 months of experience as a welder helper.

Job Requirements
  • Travel is required, including extended periods in remote areas.
  • Must be willing and able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Attend mandatory safety meetings.
  • Meet all physical requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with carbon, stainless steel, and galvanized steel.
  • Background in a gas plant construction environment.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of welding and their project impact.
Position Details

Welder I – Day shift – $22.00 /hour – 6:00 am–2:00 pm, Monday‑Friday.
