Bolt-up Fitter Helper

Overview

Bolt-up Fitter Helper role at Koch Engineered Solutions (OPD). The jobsite is in Mt. Belvieu, TX. OPD is an engineering/construction company headquartered in Katy, TX and is part of Koch Engineered Solutions, serving the natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical industries.

• Assist with tightening and loosening bolts on flange connections per ISO drawings and work plan
• Assist with installation/removal of blinds as needed for pressure testing purposes
• Possess skilled knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc., as required
• Help with assembling and securing pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications
• Use impact wrenches, combination wrenches, and line up pins to install valves and piping spools

• Actively participate in a strong safety culture
• Recognize safety hazards and risks
• Participate in onsite safety meetings
• Follow OPD and client safety policies and procedures
• Be on time to the jobsite each day ready for work
• Display a positive attitude and be able to work in a team environment
• Maintain high attention to detail to avoid reworks and errors

• Capable of working in outdoor weather conditions including cold and hot weather
• Lifting and carrying objects up to 60 pounds
• Standing for extended periods of time up to 12 hours per day
• Full-body movement including climbing, lifting, balancing, bending, and reaching on a regular basis
• Work on elevated platforms and maintain balance on narrow platforms such as beams and pipes
• Wear a full-body harness and lanyard as required
• Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools

• At least 1 year of experience as a helper, bolt-up fitter, or boilermaker

• Willing and able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week
• Willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job
• Willing and able to attend mandatory safety meetings
• A safety role model

• Previous experience in a gas plant construction or manufacturing environment
• 2 years of experience as a bolt-up fitter helper, pipefitter helper, or general helper
• Ability to communicate in English
