/ Objective
The Diesel Mechanic will maintain/repair all types of company-owned vehicles, including gasoline, diesel, electric, and propane powered. They will troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions, and efficiently repair the same.
Responsibilities- Perform computer diagnostics, troubleshooting, and develop repair plans.
- Conduct DOT inspections and evaluate performance of all drivetrain components for diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks, steering systems.
- Make repairs on a minor and/or emergency basis to parts of bodies, e.g., doors, landing gear.
- Install, adjust, or align components such as wheels, bearings, and air brake and valve systems to diagnose and repair braking and valve systems.
- Diagnose and repair air/electrical/hydraulic brake and valve systems.
- Adhere to strict safe working practices, company policies, rules, and regulations; correct obvious hazards or report them promptly.
- Understand vehicle body control systems including electronics, AC, and hydraulic systems for light/medium and heavy‑duty trucks, diesel engines, CAT/Cummins engines, transmissions, 12/24 V electrical systems, water blasting equipment, heavy‑duty vacuum trucks, and air machines.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all units as scheduled and other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of diesel mechanical experience/training.
- Strong communication skills, both internally and externally.
- Current CDL and TWIC card a plus; may be required to travel.
- Knowledge of high-pressure jetting equipment.
- Knowledge of high‑velocity industrial vacuum equipment (mandatory).
- Must have own tools/transportation and be reliable and hardworking.
- Technical institute training or equivalent work experience is favorable.
- Capability to perform electrical wiring.
- Basic understanding of OSHA, fire protection regulations, fall protection.
- Follow all safety, personal protective, and equipment policies.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and handling large tools.
- Able to climb on and off equipment, ascend/descend ladders.
- Able to stand, kneel, or crawl to perform all essential job duties.
- Work in all weather conditions (indoor & outdoor) including high temperatures, cool/cold temperatures, wind, ice, humidity, rain, fog, hail, sleet, snow.
- Nighttime working conditions (daylight, twilight, evening, dark).
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, airborne particles, fumes.
- Work hours vary daily due to business needs.
