As a Box Truck Driver, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of goods across various locations within the United States. This position requires operating a box truck to transport merchandise, equipment, or materials while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. You will be responsible for loading and unloading cargo, verifying delivery documentation, and maintaining the condition of the vehicle.
The role demands strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to navigate efficiently to meet delivery schedules. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to customer satisfaction and the overall success of the logistics and supply chain operations.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or appropriate driver’s license as required by state regulations.
- Clean driving record with no recent violations or accidents.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items safely, typically up to 50 pounds.
- Familiarity with local and regional traffic laws and regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience driving box trucks or similar commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and route planning software.
- Strong customer service skills and professional communication abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings if required.
- Operate a box truck to transport goods safely and efficiently to designated locations.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring items are secured properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Inspect the vehicle before and after trips to ensure it is in good working condition and report any maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery confirmations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues.
The required skills such as safe driving practices and vehicle operation are essential for daily transportation of goods, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations. Physical stamina and proper lifting techniques are used regularly when loading and unloading cargo to prevent injury and damage. Attention to detail is critical when inspecting the vehicle and verifying delivery documentation to maintain operational standards. Preferred skills like route planning and GPS navigation enhance efficiency by optimizing delivery routes and reducing transit times.
