About the Opportunity
A leading healthcare organization in central New Jersey is hiring a Billing Specialist to support its growing billing operations. This position is ideal for someone accurate, detail-oriented, and comfortable handling both financial and administrative tasks in a fast-moving healthcare environment. You’ll play a key role in ensuring clean claim submission, timely payments, and accurate reporting—all of which help drive access to essential community mental health services.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Prepare and submit clean claims (electronic and paper).
- Collect, post, and manage patient account payments.
- Respond to billing questions from consumers, staff, and insurance companies.
- Resolve consumer billing issues and discrepancies.
- Receive, sort, and validate incoming payments.
- Prepare and send patient statements.
- Set up payment plans and track delinquent accounts.
- Review accounts and make recommendations to leadership.
- Perform collection activities, including follow-up calls and claim corrections.
- Process insurance payments and prepare daily deposits.
- Generate accurate billing reports and payment summaries.
- Maintain strict HIPAA compliance.
- Work with Finance to improve billing processes and workflows.
- Provide monthly and ad hoc billing and collections analysis.
What They’re Looking For
- 1+ years of experience in Billing
- Medical billing experience preferred.
- Clean claim submission, managing/posting patient payments experience.
- Strong understanding of payer rules (Medicaid, Medicare, commercial).
- Proficiency with billing/EHR systems and Excel.
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
