Overview

Position Summary

This Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning, delivering, supervising and monitoring designed programs for the assigned branch.

Responsibilities
  • Run, plan, and schedule all aspects of assigned programs.
  • Recruit, develop, and coordinate all volunteers within programs.
  • Ensure all program participants are properly registered and that payments are processed to participate.
  • Maintain participant safety, know emergency procedures and the location of emergency equipment.
  • Maintain positive rapport with participants and parents; represent YMCA in appropriate business and community groups.
  • Provide publicity and develop working relationships with local schools and other community groups as directed by supervisor.
  • Conduct programs in accordance with YMCA of Greater Cleveland standards and guidelines.
  • Promote and incorporate YMCA core values and the character development model into all program activities; assist in development and implementation of programming for designated sessions.
  • Notify supervisor of issues related to program outcomes, impact, tracking, and overall class performance.
  • Gather periodic participant feedback through written evaluations provided by the Program Director.
  • Be actively involved with members, volunteers and staff in a positive, friendly manner reflecting YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Follow all established policies and procedures, including safety practices and personnel policies.
  • Participate in and support association and branch events and fundraising activities.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Supervise employees, monitor site operations and scheduling; verify time sheets and hours worked.
  • Identify training needs and initiate development activities for supervises.
  • Recommend effective personnel actions (e.g., employee counseling).
  • Secure and maintain required trainings/certifications; ensure new employees complete orientation and training; provide on-the-job training as required.
  • Define duties and accountabilities of direct reports; communicate performance standards; notify Department Director of job openings and assist in hiring/interviews.
  • Keep employees informed about association and branch events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or GED required;
Associates Degree preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year experience in staff supervision; minimum of 1 year experience in programming/program growth (youth-oriented programming and sports).

Certifications and Requirements

  • Adhere to Bloodborne Pathogen standards and attend annual training.
  • CPR and First Aid certification and safety training required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Program expertise to instruct/lead classes or teams when instruction is unavailable.
  • Excellent PC skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Strong customer service, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to multitask in a changing environment.
  • Commitment to the YMCA mission and values; ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Willingness to act as a mandated reporter for suspected child abuse/neglect; follow reporting processes as required.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, instruct and bend for long periods; ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Moderate to noisy environment; may work outside and in inclement weather.
