- Lead the implementation and configuration of Service Now SAM Pro, including plugin activation, dashboards, and integration with CMDB, ITSM, Procurement, Finance, HR, and Discovery.
- Configure and maintain software models, entitlements, installations, contracts, license positions, license metrics, and Publisher Packs for vendors such as Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, IBM, VMware, and Salesforce.
- Implement and maintain normalization, reconciliation, software reclamation, SaaS License Management, usage metering, and optimization dashboards.
- Manage software licenses and entitlements to ensure compliance with vendor agreements, conduct audits, identify licensing risks, and reduce unnecessary software spending.
- Translate complex licensing agreements, including per-user, per-device, per-core, processor, named-user, concurrent, and SaaS/subscription models, into technical reconciliation rules.
- Identify underutilized and over-licensed software and recommend license harvesting, reclamation, renewals, and cost‑saving opportunities.
- Maintain data quality using the Service Now Content Library and Publisher Packs, resolving discrepancies between discovered installations and normalized software models.
- Integrate SAM Pro with Discovery, ITOM, Service Mapping, SCCM/MECM, Intune, Jamf, cloud portals, and other inventory tools.
- Prepare for vendor audits by maintaining proof‑of‑license documentation, usage evidence, compliance positions, and audit trails.
- Develop and maintain Flow Designer flows/subflows, Integration Hub actions, Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, and custom APIs to automate SAM processes and licensing logic.
- Ensure software installations map correctly to the CMDB and follow CSDM standards, maintaining data quality across ITAM and ITSM modules.
- Integrate SAM Pro with ITSM, CMDB/CSDM, Procurement, Finance, HR, and vendor management systems using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server, and Integration Hub spokes.
- Create executive dashboards and reports covering software consumption, license compliance, risks, optimization opportunities, cost savings, and license position trends.
- Provide strategic insights to support procurement decisions, contract renewals, cloud/SaaS migrations, and software cost optimization.
- Prepare technical documentation, configuration guides, runbooks, data flows, and integration architectures; provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to internal teams.
- Collaborate with ITAM, Procurement, Vendor Management, Legal, Finance, ITSM, and IT Operations stakeholders throughout the software lifecycle.
Skills and Experience:
- Service Now SAM Pro: 2–3+ years of practical implementation and support experience, including software models, entitlements, license positions, normalization, reconciliation, reclamation, SaaS License Management, and optimization.
- Software Licensing and Compliance:
Strong understanding of per-user, per-device, per-core, processor, named-user, concurrent, and SaaS/subscription licensing models, along with vendor audit and compliance practices. - Integration
Skills:
Experience integrating Service Now with external systems through REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server, and Integration Hub spokes, particularly Discovery, SCCM/MECM, Intune, Jamf, and inventory tools. - Platform Architecture:
Knowledge of Service Now ITSM, CMDB/CSDM, ITOM Discovery, Service Mapping, Service Graph, and their relationships with ITAM/SAM data. - Analytical
Skills:
Ability to translate complex licensing contracts into accurate, robust, and upgrade‑safe technical solutions while maintaining data quality. - Communication and
Collaboration:
Ability to work effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders across ITAM, Procurement, Legal, Finance, Vendor Management, and IT Operations.
