The Role

As a Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of client payrolls, ensuring all payrolls are processed accurately and on time while delivering excellent client service. Working alongside an experienced payroll team, you'll also support Auto-Enrolment administration and build strong relationships with clients across a wide range of industries.

Key Responsibilities
Payroll Duties
  • Processing and managing weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls for a diverse client portfolio.
  • Setting up new starters and processing leavers.
  • Processing salary amendments and maintaining accurate employee records.
  • Managing payrolls from receipt of client information through to completion.
  • Producing and issuing payslips, P45s and payroll reports.
  • Ensuring payroll information is accurate and fully up to date.
  • Reconciling HMRC accounts and liaising directly with HMRC on behalf of clients.
  • Handling day-to-day payroll queries and requesting information from clients where required.
  • Ensuring payrolls are reviewed by senior team members where appropriate.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and seeking guidance when required.
Auto-Enrolment
  • Managing Auto-Enrolment responsibilities for multiple clients.
  • Reviewing staging dates and communicating requirements to clients.
  • Producing employee communications and letters.
  • Processing Auto-Enrolment through Key Pay.
  • Preparing and uploading pension files to relevant providers and middleware portals.
  • Reconciling pension payments.
  • Completing Auto-Enrolment set-up using The Pensions Regulator portal.
Administration
  • Maintaining accurate client records and payroll databases.
  • Scanning and filing payroll documentation.
  • Completing timesheets accurately and within deadlines.
  • Updating payroll procedures where required.
    About You

    You will have:

    • A minimum of two years' payroll bureau or accountancy practice experience.
    • Experience managing multiple client payrolls.
    • Strong knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, SSP, SMP and statutory payroll legislation.
    • Good understanding of Auto-Enrolment legislation and pension processes.
    • Experience using payroll software such as Key Pay (advantageous).
    • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
    • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
    • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • The ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
    • Confidence working independently and using your own initiative.
    • GCSE Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
    • Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office.
