A successful and well-established regional main contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team.
The company is a respected SME main contractor with a turnover of circa £50m, delivering a wide range of new build construction projects across residential, mixed‑use, commercial and selected public‑sector sectors. Projects are typically delivered within the Northern Home Counties and surrounding areas.
With a strong pipeline of secured work and a reputation for staff retention and progression, this is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to develop into a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the next 12‑18 months.
The RoleThe successful Quantity Surveyor will take full commercial responsibility for projects from pre‑construction through to final account, working closely with operational and delivery teams.
This role would suit a commercially capable Quantity Surveyor who is confident managing projects independently and enjoys working within a professional SME main contracting environment.
Typical duties & responsibilities- Commercial management of new build projects
- Subcontract procurement and package management
- Preparing valuations, variations and final accounts
- Cost reporting, forecasting and budget control
- Managing subcontractor accounts and payments
- Working closely with site teams and Contracts Managers
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Supporting the successful delivery of residential and commercial construction projects
- Experience working for a main contractor is essential
- Previous experience delivering new build construction projects
- Able to commercially manage projects independently
- Strong understanding of cost reporting and contract administration
- Experience with in an SME main contractor environment would be beneficial
- Ambitious and motivated to progress into a Senior Quantity Surveyor role
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
