Nestled in the quiet, leafy suburb of Bearsden in North Glasgow, Buchanan Lodge Care Home is a thoughtfully converted former convent, blending historic charm with modern comforts. We provide Residential, Nursing, Respite, and Dementia care for 38 residents, and we also support an on‑site Nursery, providing meals for up to 70 children. We’re looking for a talented Chef to join our kitchen team, supporting the Head Chef to create seasonal menus and leading our team in a fast‑paced, rewarding environment.

  • Salary: £13.52 per hour
  • 40 hours per week, daytime shifts – no unsociable late nights
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (full‑time)

The role alongside the Head Chef
  • Support the creation of seasonal, nutritious menus for residents and children.
  • Lead the kitchen team day‑to‑day, ensuring smooth operations and high standards of hygiene.
  • Mentor and develop trainee chefs and kitchen assistants.
  • Prepare and serve meals to GLfloat dietary requirements, including IDDSI and specialist diets (training provided). quality.
  • Manage stock, maintain kitchen organisation, and uphold health & safety standards.
  • Opportunity to work in a supportive, fast‑paced kitchen serving both residents and children.
What We’re Looking For
  • A relevant culinary qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate and understanding of food safety.
  • Strong team leadership skills, with a passion forерг development of others.
  • Experience in a care or hospitality kitchen is beneficial but not essential.
  • Knowledge of IDDSI and dietary
