The Beatrice State Developmental Center is looking for dedicated teammates who want to "Help People Live Better Lives" as a Developmental Technician. This position provides care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a facility setting and requires proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension).
Job OverviewUnder General Supervision, Developmental Technicians perform duties to support individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, following individualized written plans and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safety and quality of care.
Responsibilities- Provide care for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in a facility setting.
- Train skills, abilities and behaviors according to individuals’ written plans.
- Work collaboratively with teammates to ensure individuals’ needs are met.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Assist individuals with day-to-day supports and activities.
- Perform and/or monitor personal hygiene care (toileting, bathing, grooming, dressing).
- Maintain an active environment to expand individuals’ skills.
- Follow individualized written plans for behavioral training.
- Document information related to individual activities, supports, adverse reactions, etc.
- Administer medication and treatment to individuals.
- Participate in discussions with interdisciplinary team members about how to best support individuals.
- Monitor physical environment and take necessary action to ensure safety and compliance with state and federal standards.
- Recognize emergencies and take appropriate steps to resolve the situation.
- Accompany individuals into the community on trips, leisure, or medical appointments.
- Complete training and certification requirements and become certified on the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry.
Developmental Technician I (Part Time/On-Call) - $15.769/hour
Developmental Technician II (Full Time) - $19.208/hour, plus an additional $3/hour for every hour worked & shift differential.
Shift differential ranges from $1.00 to $1.75 depending on shift/day of the week.
Shift and days off will be determined at time of offer.
Minimum Qualifications:
Development Technician I/II:
Must be at least 18 years of age, and possess a valid driver’s license.

Developmental Technician II:
- Incumbents are required to work regularly scheduled shifts with predictable attendance and work overtime up to and including entire shifts.
- These positions are subject to read-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post disaster, etc.).
- Incumbents must complete a state approved medication aide course and successfully pass a written and clinical competency exam administered by the State of Nebraska and be placed on the State of Nebraska Medication Aide Registry as a condition of continued employment.
Developmental Technician I/II:
Positions classified to this class may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases and blood and airborne pathogens such as TB, HIV and Hepatitis. Incumbents must have the ability to lift, bend, push and/or pull 50 pounds on a continuous basis to assist clients in meeting their needs and maintaining safety.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: general developmental care skills; preparing and maintaining individual's records and charts;
Nebraska Medication Aide registration requirements. Skill in: active listening, clear communication. Ability to: develop effective working relationships with staff and individuals; provide quality daily care; complete courses and competency evaluations; document treatment/training plans; count accurately and record numerical and alphabetical data; observe, recognize, and report on physical status; demonstrate proper lifting (including buddy lift) within a weight range of 50 to 200 lbs.
