Overview
Personal Financial Counselor; MCAS Beaufort, SC. This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. Primary responsibilities include the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including one-on-one counseling, consultations with leadership or staff, briefings and presentations, and providing referral resources outside the counseling session. Works with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure the program is within scope and meets installation needs.
Responsibilities- Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
- Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
- Develop and provide informational financial materials to service members and families.
- Coordinate, publicize and conduct a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and events outlined in DoDI 1322.34).
- Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications, secure video teleconference) as applicable; virtual PFC support may be authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing information on trends and issues at assigned installations.
- Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement activities, or other contract duties as assigned.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required. May consider an associate degree plus 4 years’ experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree, or a high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English. If required by the contract, bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must be able to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- One of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
