The Culinary Institute of the South at Technical College of the Low country is seeking a part-time adjunct Culinary instructor to teach our Culinary Arts curriculum. This individual will be responsible for preparing lesson plans for classroom instruction and developing the program syllabi and semester schedule. Evaluating students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Preparing and maintaining all required administrative reports and documentation.
Maintaining knowledge of trends and developments in the field and maintaining all certifications. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting student progress. Manage and submit purchase requests and maintain classroom supplies. Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture, student advisement and registration.
- Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction and develop program syllabi and semester schedules.
- Evaluate students’ progress toward goals and objectives.
- Prepare and maintain all required administrative reports and documentation.
- Maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field and maintain certifications.
- Meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss instructional programs and issues impacting progress.
- Manage and submit purchase requests and maintain classroom supplies.
- Offer a flexible schedule for lectures, student advisement, and registration.
- Must be Serv Safe Manager certified.
- Possess an Associate's degree in Culinary Arts from a nationally/regionally accredited college or university.
- Five (5) years of documented/verifiable paid work experience within the past seven (7) years in the Culinary or Baking and Pastry field, with at least one (1) year in a management position.
- Commitment to excellence and professionalism in the classroom and in the community.
- American Culinary Federation (ACF) certification at CWPC (Certified Working Pastry Chef) or CCE (Certified Culinary Educator) or Certified Chef de Cuisine (CCC) or higher or Certified Executive Chef (CEC).
- Teaching/training experience.
- Experience in demonstrating hands-on Culinary Arts cooking techniques in accordance with ACF standards.
