Sea Island Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Lead Veterinary Technician to help guide, support, and elevate our technician and assistant team. This is a hands‑on leadership role for a confident, compassionate technician who enjoys mentoring others, maintaining high medical standards, and collaborating closely with hospital leadership.

About the Role:

Lead Veterinary Technician

The Lead Veterinary Technician is responsible for performing daily technician duties while also overseeing and supporting the technician and assistant team. This role serves as a key bridge between the medical staff and hospital leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine veterinary technician duties across the hospital
  • Oversee technicians and assistants on a daily basis
  • Lead by example in patient care, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Conduct routine technician check‑ins and performance reviews
  • Assist with disciplinary actions when needed
  • Lead quarterly technician meetings
  • Communicate protocol updates and medical workflow changes to the tech team
  • Support onboarding and training of new staff
  • Assist with scheduling and coverage coordination

Collaborate closely with:

  • Medical Director
  • Hospital Manager
  • Other department and team leads
Who We’re Looking For
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/CVT/RVT) strongly preferred
  • 3–5+ years of experience as a veterinary technician
  • At least 1 year of prior leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of fear‑free handling and patient care
  • Excellent communication skills across varying personalities
  • Proven conflict resolution and coaching abilities
  • Experience with staff scheduling and workflow management
  • Organized, accountable, and emotionally intelligent
  • Passionate about mentoring and developing others

This role requires both technical excellence and strong people leadership.

Schedule & Compensation
  • Full‑time: 35–40 hours per week (typically 4 ten‑hour shifts)
  • Rotating Saturdays as part of the leadership team
  • Starting at $25/hour, with higher compensation based on experience
  • No overnights or holidays
