Position: Mechanic I

Join Lowe’s as a Mechanic I to keep our distribution center running smoothly. You will quickly and independently fix equipment issues in different areas, helping to maintain a seamless flow of goods and keep our supply chain moving. Your adaptable skills and ability to guide others directly contribute to the overall efficiency of our distribution center teams, creating a safe and productive environment for your fellow team members.

Schedule

Monday–Friday 8 am–4:30 pm. Additionally,
on‑call support is required and a set schedule may change based on facility needs. You may work morning, afternoon, night, or weekends as needed.

Your Day at Lowe’s

As a maintenance Mechanic I, you’ll use your specialized expertise in conveyors, rolling stock, or building components to handle complex repairs in your area of focus. Armed with sufficient electrical and mechanical knowledge, you will independently diagnose, prioritize, plan, and execute repairs and collaborate with colleagues in management or leadership when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in a distribution/warehouse environment, handling physical and environmental aspects typical to such settings.
  • Utilize tools for maintenance tasks requiring fine motor skills and hand‑eye coordination.
  • Perform specialized repairs in conveyors, rolling stock, or building components within the Regional Distribution Center (RDC).
  • Demonstrate electrical and mechanical ability for safe, independent equipment repairs in the RDC.
  • Use trade skills, classroom knowledge, and systems experience to diagnose equipment issues and make necessary repairs.
  • Obtain or order the proper parts necessary for equipment repairs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Stay updated on new technologies, equipment, and maintenance procedures through ongoing training and education.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • 2 years of experience in your specialty area.
  • Experience or technical training in electrical/electronic theory up to 600 V systems (or willingness to obtain proper training within 1 year).
  • Ability to lift 25–70 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely with corrosive materials and at heights of 20 + feet.
  • Required local certification for maintenance mechanic work (e.g., electrical work in Oregon) if applicable.
  • Proven record of following safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to see objects and discriminate color.
  • Experience or certification with welding and fabrication.
  • Experience operating various maintenance and operations vehicles and equipment.
  • Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings.
Schedule Requirements
  • On‑call support required.
  • Set schedule may change based on facility needs.
  • Availability for morning, afternoon, night, or weekend shifts and overtime as needed.
Working Conditions

Environmental factors vary by location. You may work inside and outside, in extreme heat or cold, wet, damp, humid, windy, or drafty conditions, and may be exposed to constant or intermittent noise, moving or shaking objects and equipment. Lifting methods vary; follow guidelines to limit single lifts to 70 pounds; use powered equipment as trained.
