Description
Summary:
Under general supervision, performs support for the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. Also performs clerical duties and support for the assigned county department.
- Answer routine inquiries, take messages and/or refer to appropriate personnel.
- Prepare various monthly and weekly reports.
- Enter phone and debit card ACH transactions daily, run weekly reports for deposits, record inmate debt and verify, run reports for badge fee funds, commissary funds, medical funds, and miscellaneous debt funds weekly.
- Write checks from inmate escrow and commissary accounts, make deposits into inmate escrow and commissary accounts, enter trustee pay and medical charges, process invoices for payment, issue checks weekly, and perform monthly audits.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance as an essential function of the position.
- Perform other job-related duties as directed.
Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED;
Clerical experience recommended. General knowledge of banking and accounting processes preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills; computer skills including word processing; excellent interpersonal skills to interact and cooperate with co-workers, interact with law enforcement agencies, and deal effectively with the general public.
- Must be able to type 30 wpm.
Work requires organizing; prioritizing; accuracy with attention to detail; flexibility to accommodate a variety of assignments; meeting deadlines; patience in dealing with the public; working as part of a group; performing routine, repetitive duties; working in a high-volume environment. During emergency events, additional working hours may be required outside of a normal work week.
Working ConditionsWork is performed primarily in a secured correctional facility. Work can be sedentary, requires working alone in some instances and includes repetitive duties.
