Multi-Platform Weather MMJ/Weekend Meteorologist

KFDM is seeking an energetic, forward-thinking
Weather MMJ/Weekend Meteorologist
to join our award-winning news team. As a Weather MMJ and Weekend Meteorologist, you’ll be responsible for creating engaging, accurate, and visually compelling weather coverage on-air, online, and across all social platforms. We’re looking for someone who can not only forecast the weather — but enterprise and tell a story, connect with viewers, and make weather science relatable on every screen.

Day-to-Day

Responsibilities Include:

• Using all major social media platforms
  (Facebook, X, Tik Tok, Instagram, You Tube) to post updates, engage with viewers, and expand our digital reach.
• Livestream across all social media platforms
  at least twice a day to provide weather content that engages with viewers to increase digital footprint for KFDM.
• Forecasting, producing, and presenting
  clear and concise weather casts that connect with viewers and adhere to KFDM’s weather best practices.
• Developing and executing weather and weather-related news stories
  as an MMJ — including shooting video, conducting interviews, writing scripts, and assembling stories for broadcast and digital publication
• Issuing warnings and alerts, producing graphics and maps,and reporting live during severe weather events.
• Creating unique, educational, and visually compelling weather content
  for digital platforms, newscasts, and the station’s website.
• Collaborating with producers and news management
  to determine relevant weather content in both breaking and everyday situations.
• Making
  public appearances
  on behalf of the station and participating in community outreach as a trusted weather authority.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in
  Meteorology
  or a related field
  required
  .
• Proficiency in weather forecasting software
  and graphic systems.
• Strong understanding of
  digital and social media engagement
  strategies, especially for Facebook, X, Tik Tok, Instagram, and You Tube.
• Solid grasp of
  news storytelling fundamentals
  — from research and writing to shooting and editing video.
• Ability to
  think creatively
  under pressure, multitask effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
• Sharp news judgment
  and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• On-air weather/reporting experience
  preferred, but strong entry-level candidates with exceptional talent and digital savvy are encouraged to apply.
• At least 2 years of on-air weather/reporting experience, to include digital and social media,preferred.
