Thompson Engineering has a full‑time opportunity for a Survey Party Chief. The Surveyor Party Chief oversees the survey crew in the daily responsibilities of the land surveying department and reports survey data to the Survey Team Manager.

Ideal candidates will need to travel to support various project needs.

• Oversees the daily functions of the survey crew
• Responsible for the set up and completion of the survey crew on job sites under the direct supervision of the Professional Land Surveyor and/or job supervisor
• Ensures the proper reporting of daily work logs to the Org Manager
• Reduces survey data to the Org Manager
• Interprets blueprints/plans/deeds to lead the survey crew effectively
• Drives company vehicle to and from job sites
• Operates all survey equipment and interprets data to report information to the Org Manager
• Understands and computes field calculations relative to the survey data collected
• Effectively manages the time and schedules of the survey crew
• Maintains on‑time and consistent attendance

• Five (5) years verifiable experience running a crew in surveying commercial and/or heavy industrial construction stakeout.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to read and comprehend measurements.
• Intermediate math skills (trigonometry and coordinate geometry).
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to travel and stay overnight as required.

• Work outside in field conditions up to 100% of the time.
• Lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Remain standing for at least eight (8) hours per day and walk long distances.
• Be able to bend, stoop, and climb on ladders.
• Drive a company vehicle to and from job sites.
