Credit Reporting & Dispute Specialist Summary
  • Reviews credit reporting information and resolves credit bureau disputes accurately and timely.
  • Processes reporting corrections and maintains required documentation for member accounts and loans.
  • Communicates with members and internal departments to research and resolve credit reporting concerns.
  • Supports Lending Operations with Invo requests and other lending-related duties as needed.
Role

The Credit Report & Dispute Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate credit reporting and the timely research and resolution of credit bureau disputes. This position reviews account and loan information, processes necessary reporting corrections, maintains required documentation, and communicates with members and internal departments to resolve credit reporting concerns. The position also provides support to Lending Operations, including assisting with Invo requests and other lending-related duties as needed.

Knowledge

and Skills

Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

  • 1. Understanding of applicable regulations and procedures; knowledge of accounts payables and receivable is helpful.
  • 2. Excellent listening and communication abilities.
  • 3. Strong attention to detail, well organized, and goal oriented in a high-paced work environment.

  • 5. Must have above average listening, communication and negotiating skills.
  • 6. Able to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • 7. Must be able to operate related computer software and business equipment provided by the credit union.

  • 9. Strong mathematical skills.
