Summary/ObjectiveThe Clinical Dietitian provides assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring, and evaluation of patients identified as potential nutritional risk and coordinates MNT, as well as assists in the administrative and technical management of the Food and Nutrition Department.

- Maintain Daily Census Sheets for assigned units; to screen for and track nutrition assessments, follow-ups, and all other nutrition interventions.
- Provide MNT to all patients requiring nutrition intervention; perform nutrition assessments of patients identified at nutrition risk; develop, implement, and document an individualized plan of care for each patient in the EMR; monitor patient response to planned interventions through reassessment, addressing previously identified nutrition-related problems; provide nutrition counseling and education to patients/caregivers.
- Monitor enteral and parenteral nutrition support, diets, and menus for adherence to therapeutic modifications and diet consistency; communicate with staff as needed to maximize patient care.
- Educate and serve as an expert resource to patients, families, and staff on home alternative nutrition and hydration services. Collaborate with DME and insurance companies to coordinate care for patients as needed.
- In collaboration with CNM, the RD acts as a preceptor for the Dietetic Internship program.
- Complete audit logs related to patient care and food preparation, as well as productivity logs, supplement logs, and other Clinical Nutrition logs as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, completion of a Dietetic Internship program.
Required License/CertificationsCurrent CDR registration for Registered Dietitians and Licensure Designation or successful completion of Registered Dietitian and Licensure Designation within the first six months of hire.
