The Unlicensed Nursing Assistant provides a variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for assigned patients. All duties are performed within the limits of the position, and the assistant does NOT administer medication or therapy, nor do they assume independent responsibility for any patient.

• Provides designated and specified patient care to assigned patients under the direct supervision, consultation, and notification of a licensed nurse in accordance with physicians' orders and approved patient‑care standards.
• Records graphics, intake and output, and ADLs in the computer and flow sheet accurately and implements measures to promote a safe environment for patients and others.
• Maintains knowledge of the usual and stable baseline conditions (both physical and mental) of the specific patient population in which they are employed.
• Instigates appropriate nursing interventions to stabilize a patient's condition and/or prevent complications, and reports objective relevant observations to the licensed nurse to assist in care‑planning.
• Communicates and interacts effectively with patients and their families based on sensitivity to patients' psychosocial needs.
• Utilizes equipment safely and effectively, adapting usage to the age and general condition of the patient, and assists in cleaning and sanitizing all equipment and supplies used in the unit while adhering to all cleaning guidelines.

6 months to 1 year of related experience.

BLS Certification. Unit specific competencies obtained within six months of hire or transfer date.
