Unlicensed Nursing Assistant – Float – Per Diem / Flex – 7P
Join the Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas team as an Unlicensed Nursing Assistant. This float per diem/flex position requires dedicated patient support under the direction of licensed nurses.
Summary / ObjectiveThe Unlicensed Nursing Assistant provides a variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for assigned patients. Performs patient care activities within the limits of the position—does NOT administer any medication or therapy; does NOT assume independent responsibility for any patient. The Unlicensed Nursing Assistant may also provide close observation of patients who are a risk to themselves or others either in person or via remote monitoring to assist in the provision of a safe and clean environment.
EssentialJob Duties
- Provides designated and specified patient care to assigned patients under the direct supervision, consultation, and notification of a licensed nurse in accordance with physicians' orders and in conformance with approved patient care standards based on previously acquired nursing skills.
- Records graphics, intake and output, and ADL's in the computer and flow sheet accurately and implements measures to promote a safe environment for patients and others.
- Knows the usual and stable baseline conditions (both physical and mental) of the specific patient population in which they are employed. When providing close observation of patients who are at risk of injury to themselves or others, the Unlicensed Nursing Assistant positions themselves in patient rooms at the bedside or in front of the patient monitoring system to maintain constant visual observation of the patient, never leaving the patient(s) alone or out of sight unless specifically instructed by the nurse.
- Institutes appropriate nursing interventions that might be required to stabilize a patient's condition and/or prevent complications. Reports objective, relevant observations to the licensed nurse to assist in care planning.
- Communicates and interacts effectively with patients and their families based on sensitivity to the psychosocial needs of patients and demonstrates an ability to appropriately escalated behaviors that may place patients or others at risk for harm or injury.
- Utilizes equipment in the provision of patient care services safely and effectively with adaptation of equipment usage to the age and general condition of the patient, as indicated. Assists in the cleaning and sanitation of all equipment and supplies used in the unit and adheres to all guidelines regarding use of cleaning products.
Education and Experience
6 months – 1 year related experience.
Required License/Certifications- BLS Certification
