Summary
The Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating and maintaining heavy equipment to support construction, industrial, or facility operations. This role ensures equipment is used efficiently to complete projects on time while maintaining a safe work environment and following company and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, forklifts, cranes, or other machinery as assigned.
- Inspect, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting of equipment before and after use.
- Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and site-specific procedures while operating machinery.
- Assist with site preparation, material handling, excavation, grading, loading/unloading, and other tasks requiring equipment operation.
- Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or maintenance needs to supervisors.
- Work closely with ground crews and other operators to ensure efficient and safe completion of tasks.
- Keep accurate logs of equipment use, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Perform minor adjustments or preventive maintenance as needed to keep equipment in good working order.
- Support other labor or site activities when equipment operation is not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license; CDL or specialized equipment certifications may be required depending on equipment type.
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment in construction, industrial, or related environments.
- Knowledge of equipment safety standards, operating procedures, and maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and follow site plans, blueprints, or instructions.
- Strong attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Ability to reach, stand, walk, use fingers, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and perform repetitive motions.
- Sedentary work:
Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
