Under general supervision, with wide latitude for planning or laying out of working details, responsibilities include:

• Installation and removal of electric meters and related equipment on customers' premises.
• Connection and disconnection of services at the pole.
• Location and repair of all types of break in the electric transmission and distribution systems.
• Answer electric trouble calls to customers' premises.
• Trace and clear grounds and opens on series circuits.
• Test, switch, and inspect all types of automatic voltage regulating devices.
• Make routine check, inspection, test of relays, etc. on all automatic reclosing equipment.
• Refuse all classes of high voltage substations and line fuses.
• Make routine check, inspection, maintenance and test of substation network protectors, transformers, regulators, switching, control and related equipment.
• Conduct voltage, load, substation, electrolysis, ground and other special tests.
• Make complete insulation test on potheads, transformers, cables, bushings, etc.
• Act in capacity of supervisor when authorized.
• Perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.

• Must have worked for at least one year as an Apprentice 4th year, or have equivalent experience in related work, having all qualifications of the previous classifications.
• Knowledge of Company safety rules, approved methods of resuscitation, and practical first aid on or off the ground.
• Knowledge of location, and ability to operate all firefighting equipment. Knowledge of equipment to use on electrical, oil, and other fires.
• Supply personal tools used in work.
• Obtain/Maintain a valid Class A CDL.
• Know city streets, and roads in rural sections.
• Have thorough knowledge of city and state traffic laws.
• Have thorough knowledge of Company regulations and state laws governing disconnects for nonpayment, repossession of merchandise and diversion of current.
• Have thorough working knowledge of electric circuits and equipment.
• Know Company's rules and regulations applying to service and meter installations, Underwriters' National Electrical Code, and any state or local regulations governing electrical wiring.
• Be willing and able to read and understand all wiring diagrams and blueprints in connection with the distribution system, meters, switchboard equipment, relays, controls and also related Company equipment on customers' premises.
• Know Company's electrical and mechanical tagging rules.
• Have thorough knowledge of the layout and characteristics of distribution system in the area assigned.
• Be willing and able to study, maintain and report performance of new equipment installed as related to the distribution system.
• Be willing and able to trace, locate and analyze difficult cases of trouble.
• Be proficient in the operation of recloser controls and regulator controls.

Additional work hours may be required including storms, outages, emergencies or other situations as deemed necessary. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime for such duties.
